The historic town that gave the Pays de Gex its name, a sub-prefecture and the area's second-largest commune by population, Gex climbs the foot of the Jura on the road to the Col de la Faucille. It has the services of a small town, linked to Ferney-Voltaire and Geneva by the F bus.
